Motherhood: A celebration.

Welcome to the world of motherhood, Buckle up, it's a wild ride.

Featuring a beautiful motherhood session, photographs taken at Bridgewater Lakes, a 10 minute drive from Portland, Victoria.

When delving into the "why" of my business model. The one word that holds so much meaning to me is motherhood. It is the reason I chose photography to pursue. Motherhood is a world you are often thrown into, in the early hours of what has been the longest day (or days) of your life. A small being is thrust upon your chest. A being you now have sole responsibility for. You are now their one and only, responsible for keeping them alive for, let's be honest, the end of time. You would go to the ends of the earth to protect this little soul. Every cry, little noise and smile. You are there for it all, in those early days. It's raw, beautiful, messy, hard (fucking hard). You will have what feels like an eternity of sleepless nights. Fits of rage when naps are missed due to defiant toddler antics. Meltdowns when you can't ease their cries. And so with all that mothers go through, all they achieve. I believe in my soul, that this should be documented. That this time with their little wildlings, should be cherished and captured. To look back on forever. To remember the work that you put in, the love you felt (and will forever). To celebrate you, and the amazing efforts you go to for these loves. The love's of your life.

Dad's aren't compulsory! (yes I said it!)

Now let me explain myself. I want to celebrate you, and your motherhood journey. If that means a session without Dad. Then YES let's do it. Dad's aren't compulsory to a family session. I want you to know that not involving Dad in a session, is completely OK. As a mother you know that the brunt of the work goes to you. The scales aren't even. They never will be, because that beautiful little soul was grown in your womb. Inside of you, a part of you. That connection deserves to be celebrated. And let's be honest, a lot of Dads do not want to attend a photography session. I would be very sad to hear you put off capturing these special moments, because Dad didn't want to come! Your motherhood journey is unique to you. How you got here, each turn and bump in the road. They have made you into the mother you are today. Everyone has their own, individual story to tell and honour. Seizing that and turning it into a story of images, is what I do best.

"How you got here, each turn and bump in the road. They have made you into the mother you are today".

Don't wait for the perfect time. You are perfect, just as you are.

You don't want photos yet, you are still carrying your extra "baby weight". You want to lose a few kilos first. You hate the way you look in photos. You have no idea what to wear. Should I keep going? You get my drift. You have heard this monologue in your head your entire life. Constantly putting yourself down. Your not skinny enough, smart enough, tall enough. Well I am here to tell you, YOU ARE ENOUGH!!! Just as you are. All those faults you have been telling yourself exist. Only exist to you. And only because you keep telling yourself they do. I can tell you with one hundred percent certainty, in 10 years time, all those things above. You either won't care about them, or you will look back and think what the hell was I thinking? And you know what, those wrinkles, love rolls, grey hairs. They all make you, you. And you are perfect just the way you are, in the eyes of your darling children. All they have is unconditional love for their Mama. The one that gave them life. The one that cuddles them to sleep each night. They wouldn't have you any other way. So the next time you are telling yourself, you aren't enough. REPEAT after me "I am enough. I am powerful, beautiful and unstoppable."
